Stila Sensational in Sydney - Perfect Portable Palette

After blogging my love for the Stila Merry & Bright Palette, my good friend caught on and gifted me the Stila Sensational in Sydney Palette for Christmas! I was excited to add another super portable Stila palette to my collection to see if the quality was as good as the first. The palette is a mere $10 at Sephora but sells for $16 on other retailer sites such as Beauty.com. This is a limited edition release so I would get it before it sells out!

Sensational in Sydney features five neutral, must-have basic eyeshadows and one convertible color. The shadow names are all Australian themed: Aussie, Koala, Bondi Beach, Opera House, and Harbour Bridge. The convertible color is called Sugarbrush and I believe it is unique to the palette and unavailable in a full sized compact. The shadows total 6 grams which is quite generous for such a slim palette and the convertible color is 2.2 grams.

The shadows are delightfully smooth and buttery. All of the eyeshadows are shimmery and the middle color is the most satin-like. The center shade would actually look quite lovely as a complexion highlight as the shimmer is understated and there is a slight peach tint to the shadow. The shimmer in the other shadows is not glittery at all and is very finely milled. Admittedly, the three lighter shades on the edges look a bit similar which is one of the flaws of the palette. The palette would have been perfect if one of the medium tan shimmery shades was replaced by a matte mid-tone brown.

Sugarbrush is a muted berry red without a trace of shimmer. The convertible color is very creamy and easy to apply with the fingers or a brush. The color sheers out and leaves a slightly dewy look to the cheek that looks healthy, never oily. This shade would look especially lovely in the winter time on pale skin. Sugarbrush can also be used on the lips so you can have an entire look within one palette. The bright convertible color is a great pairing with the very natural eyeshadows if you want to focus on the complexion instead of the eyes.

Like the Merry & Bright Palette, Sensational in Sydney is loaded with eyeshadows and cream blushes of exceptional quality. The cardboard packaging is cute, light and sturdy which makes it perfect for toting in your everyday makeup bag. I am highly pleased with these affordable palettes and hope that Stila comes out with a new set soon!
